In the Fall of 2012, the City will begin a process to revise the Circulation Plan for Bicyclists and Pedestrians (pdf, 9.55 mb) which was adopted in June 2007.  The Plan is part of El Cerrito's efforts to create a walkable, bikeable, and sustainable City through identification and prioritization of non-motorized transportation infrastructure improvements.

The El Cerrito City Council adopted the City's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan on September 21, 2009.  The City pursued the development of an ADA Transition Plan to ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities in the community.  As indicated in the plan, the City Engineer/ Public Works Director has establish an ADA Advisory Group to provide advice and guidance in the planning, prioritization, and coordination of accessibility-related improvement projects in the public rights-of-way.

Additionally, the City has a number of current projects planned to improve the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.  Several projects will begin construction later this year.
