Free Screening of "The Case Against 8" at Cerrito Theater

Saturday, June 16, 2018

Join us for a public screening of the award-winning Sundance film, “The Case Against 8” at Rialto Cinemas in El Cerrito. This film gives a behind-the-scenes look inside the case to overturn California's ban on same-sex marriage. Shot over five years, the film follows the unlikely team that took the first federal marriage equality lawsuit to the U.S. Supreme Court. Kris Perry and Sandy Stier, one of the ground-breaking couples featured in the movie, will lead a Q&A session and book signing immediately following the screening. This screening is hosted by the El Cerrito Human Relations Commission.

This year, there are two opportunities to celebrate multiculturalism, tolerance, and diversity in our community:

On Wednesday, June 13, there will be activities for the whole family (including food, music, dancing and other fun activities!) at Off the Grid, at Fairmount and San San Pablo Ave. Join neighbors and friends of all ages to enjoy live music, Off-the-Grid (food & beverages available for purchase), and celebrate together (dancing, too!). Community organizations will have representatives sharing details about programs and projects, including: El Cerrito Rotary, Soroptimist International of El Cerrito, El Cerrito Library Foundation, and others.

Then, on Saturday June 16, the Human Relations Commission is hosting a free screening of the film, "The Case Against 8" (Rated TV-14).
