The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning starting at 9:00 PM tonight (8/31) and extending through 9:00 PM Saturday (9/2) due to the high pressure buildup as well as very dry and warm conditions” in the East Bay. Temperatures in this area are expected in the high 90’s to potentially the low 100’s with extremely low humidity. Everyone is urged to take precautions during this period.
A red flag warning, according to the NWS, is a precautionary message that indicates an area currently or will shortly display “critical fire weather conditions” due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures. The NWS red flag warning notes that any fires that develop will “likely spread rapidly”.

The El Cerrito Swim Center will remain closed on Saturday, 9/16/17 due to the City's Centennial Celebration Parade & lunch in the Park. All Swim Center programs are canceled on 9/16/17. Access to the Community Center Parking lot will be restricted due to the parade route. Come out and join the fun!
