Meet Alexandra Orologas, Assistant City Manager

Orologas, Alexandra - HeadshotSince 2019, Alexandra (Alex) has served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of El Cerrito. Prior to joining the El Cerrito team, Alex spent approximately eight years in the City of Oakland in the roles of Assistant to the City Administrator and Chief of Staff to the City Administrator. She began her full-time local government career in the City of San José in various analyst positions in the City Manager’s Office and as a Management Fellow in the Departments of Transportation, Housing and the San José Public Library. Alex is passionate about serving the complex needs of communities given the existing ability at the local level to make impactful change.

Alex currently serves on the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Committee for the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the Municipal Pooling Authority (MPA) Board of Directors and on the Advisory Board for the Customer Experience (CX) Program at University of California, Irvine Extension. Previously, she served a total of four years in the roles of Communications Director/Board Secretary and Board Member of the Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC) and seven years on a variety of League of California Cities (Cal Cities) Policy Committees representing El Cerrito and Oakland. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Politics & Legal Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Master of Public Administration from San José State University. In addition, Alex holds a Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution from the University of California, Berkeley Extension; is a MMANC/Cal-ICMA Credentialed Government Leader (CGL); a CalPELRA Certified Labor Relations Master; and is a graduate of the Local Governance Summer Institute at Stanford University.
