Station 71

Station 71 is located at 10900 San Pablo Avenue at the corner of Manila Avenue. The station was built in 1964 and is the headquarters for both the Fire Department and the El Cerrito Police Department. In addition to the Fire Department’s administration, Station 71 is also home to Engine 71, Truck 71, Battalion 71 and OES #413.

Engine 71

Engine 71 is a 2006 custom Type I fire engine built by Hi-Tech Emergency Vehicle Services. The chassis built by Spartan Motors is powered by a 515 horse power Detroit Diesel engine and can pump 1,500 gallons per minute. It carries 500 gallons of water and a Class A foam system that enhances the performance of the water in extinguishing fires. In addition, the engine is equipped with all the medical equipment and supplies to provide advanced life support in the field. It is also a full rescue engine with the Jaws of Life hydraulic rescue tools, air bag lifting systems, and rope rescue gear to facilitate any type of low to high angle rescue.

Truck 71

Truck 71 is a 2014 custom aerial ladder truck built by Spartan Emergency Response Vehicles. The chassis is powered by a 550 horse power Cummins diesel engine and has a 103-foot aerial ladder with a 1,250 gallon per minute elevated water stream. While there is no water or pump on this apparatus, it carries an extensive cache of support equipment, such as 180 feet of ground ladders, chain saws, air blowers, and numerous hand tools that are required in any structure fire. In addition, Truck 71 is also equipped with hydraulic (jaws of life) rescue tools and rope rescue tools to complete its rescue capabilities. Like the engine at this station, the truck is equipped with all the medical equipment and supplies to provide advanced life support in the field.

OES #413

OES #413 is a 2019 HME Model 18 Type I fire engine. This apparatus is owned by the State of California and is provided to the City under contract that it be staffed and respond to any emergency within the state under a statewide mutual-aid agreement. The chassis built by HME Fire Trucks is powered by a 370-horsepower Cummins Diesel engine and can pump 1,250 gallons per minute. It carries 850 gallons of water and a Class A foam system that enhances the performance of the water in extinguishing fires. In addition, the engine is equipped with all the medical equipment and supplies to provide advanced life support in the field. It is also equipped as an urban search and rescue light-rescue engine with rope rescue gear and various tools to be utilized in any type of disaster throughout the state.

RESERVE ENGINE


Our reserve engine is a 2000 custom Type I fire engine built by Hi-Tech Emergency Vehicle Services.  The chassis built by Spartan Motors is powered by a Detroit 60 Diesel engine and can pump 2,000 gallons per minute.  It carries 500 gallons of water and a Class A foam system that enhances the performance of the water in extinguishing fires. In addition, the engine is equipped with all the medical equipment and supplies to provide advanced life support in the field. It is also a full rescue engine with Jaws of Life hydraulic rescue tools and rope rescue gear to facilitate any type of low to high angle rescue.

Station 72

Station 72, located at 1520 Arlington Boulevard, was built in 1997 to replace the outdated station at this same site. This station serves as a secondary Emergency Operations Center for the City and has a training room facility as well as archive storage for Fire Department records.

Engine 72 and Engine 372 are both housed at this facility. In addition, a Ford F550 utility flatbed truck is also housed at station 72 and is used to haul the following two trailers:

  • 16' mass casualty incident trailer that stores extra medical supplies for large-scale incidents
  • 22' cribbing and shoring support trailer that contains hydraulic shores and a full compliment of various construction equipment used to build shoring systems and break through concrete.

In addition, the engine is equipped with all the medical equipment and supplies to provide advanced life support in the field. It is also a full rescue engine with the Jaws of Life hydraulic rescue tools, air bag lifting systems, and rope rescue gear to facilitate any type of low to high angle rescue.

Engine 372

Engine 372 is a 2009 four wheel drive Type III fire engine built by Hi-Tech Emergency Vehicle Services. The chassis built by International is powered by a 350 horse power International diesel engine and can pump 500 gallons per minute. Its primary design is to be used for wildland fires in the urban interface as well as allow access to the steep terrain in the surrounding parks. It carries 500 gallons of water and a Class A foam system that enhances the performance of the water in extinguishing fires.

Station 65

Station 65 is located at 217 Arlington Avenue in Kensington, was built in 1970 to replace the old station that was located down the street. The Station is owned by the Kensington Fire Protection District that has a contract with the City of El Cerrito to provide Fire services to the community of Kensington since 1995. Engine 65 and Engine 365 are both housed at this facility.

Engine 65 is a 2016 custom Type I fire engine built by Hi-Tech Emergency Vehicle Services. The chassis built by Spartan Motors is powered by a 450 horse power Cummins diesel engine and can pump 1,500 gallons per minute. It carries 500 gallons of water and a Class A foam system that enhances the performance of the water in extinguishing fires. In addition, the engine is equipped with all the medical equipment and supplies to provide advanced life support in the field. It also carries rope rescue gear to facilitate any type of low to high angle rescue and Hurst "jaws of life" hydraulic rescue tools.

Engine 365

Engine 365 is a 2020 four wheel drive Type III fire engine built by Hi-Tech Emergency Vehicle Services. The chassis built by International is powered by a 350 horse power Cummings diesel engine and can pump 500 gallons per minute. Its primary design is to be used for wildland fires in the urban interface as well as allow access to the steep terrain in the surrounding parks although it is fully capable of being a backup engine to the Type 1 engine. It carries 500 gallons of water and a Class A foam system that enhances the performance of the water in extinguishing fires.
