Statewide Housing Legislation
Over 20 new housing laws were recently passed by the legislature and signed by the governor. Community Development staff are evaluating what these laws mean for El Cerrito and how they interact with existing Municipal Code or impact others established or ongoing goals and programs, e.g. in the Specific Plan area, or Specific Plan update or the Tenant Protection Task Force. The laws are wide ranging and include laws that affect municipal control over housing development, affordable housing finance and development, Accessory Dwelling Units and tenant protections.
