Community Service & Programs

Volun-Teen Program

The Volun-Teen program is designed to help local teens make a positive impact in their community. While many volunteer options are currently on pause as we transition out of the pandemic closures, typical opportunities include summer Counselor-in-Training programs, Special Event assistance, reception/administrative support for Senior Services, serving lunches to seniors, and more. Questions about the Volunt-Teen Program? Have a volunteer opportunity for local teens? Contact Recreation Supervisor Taylor Melton at tmelton@ci.el-cerrito.ca.us.

Summer Leaders in Training Program

Designed for the teen who is ready to take on responsibility and learn skills that may help them land that first job. Leaders in Training will spend their time learning vocational skills, job etiquette and child development. They will also get hands on experience assisting with young children throughout their camp day. Teens want to have fun, so they will have time set aside to socialize with each other and celebrate what they’ve accomplished over the two week program – including an end-of-session special event! LITs will receive a certificate validating their experience. LITs are required to wear a camp shirt as well as appropriate shorts or pants and athletic shoes.
