Eureka Avenue and Lexington Avenue Street Improvement Project

This spring 2020, the City will be undertaking construction of the Eureka Avenue and Lexington Avenue Street Improvement Project. It primarily involves the repair of the existing roadway pavement, reconstruction of sidewalk, curb, and gutter that have been damaged by existing trees, reconstruct storm drain facilities, construction of new and modified curb ramps and installation of enhanced traffic striping and signing. This project will also install an on-street disabled parking space, curb ramps, and high-visibility crosswalk to serve the recently renovated Centennial Park at the intersection of Liberty Street and Eureka Avenue. The limits of the project are Eureka Avenue from Kearney Street to Liberty Street and Lexington Avenue from Eureka Avenue north to the cul-de-sac. The project is funded by the City’s Measure A Funds and SB 1 Local Partnership Program Funds.



Construction began March 23, 2020 and will take approximately five weeks to complete depending on weather. Construction activities will typically start at 8 a.m. and finish by 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on an occasional Saturday. Vehicle travel lanes may be temporarily obstructed, so expect brief delays during this time. Parking along the project limits will be restricted intermittently, but only during the work day. Residents will always have access to their driveways and pedestrian entrances. Vehicles and pedestrians should expect short delays due to detours around construction areas.
